Health & safety

Does my dog or cat have to be up to date on his vaccinations?

Yes. You will need to provide a copy of your pet’s rabies and distemper vaccinations, along with your veterinarian’s name and phone number. This is protection for your pet.

How old does my dog have to be?

We prioritize the safety and well-being of every pet in our care, and we welcome dogs for grooming up to the age of 15. Older dogs can have special needs and sensitivities that require more careful attention than a grooming environment can typically provide. If your dog is older and needs grooming, we recommend talking with your veterinarian about specialized care options.

Do pets need to be on flea and tick medication before their grooming appointment?

Yes. All pets must be treated with flea and tick medication before their appointment, for the health and safety of every animal in our care. To avoid cancellations, please make sure your pet is free of fleas and ticks before the visit. If you have questions about flea and tick treatments or need recommendations, contact us.

Grooming & coat care

How often should I get my pet groomed?

On average, dogs should be groomed every four to six weeks and cats every six to eight weeks. It depends on how often you can brush at home, your pet’s breed and coat, and how much time they spend outside. You may want a tighter schedule to keep cuts crisp — booking a recurring appointment is the easiest way to keep your spot.

Does frequent bathing harm my pet’s coat?

No. Veterinarians encourage regular grooming. We use high-quality shampoos and conditioners to help relieve dry, itchy skin — including medicated, tearless, soothing oatmeal, relaxing lavender, tropical scents and hypoallergenic aloe formulas.

Can I bring my own shampoo?

Absolutely, although our top-rated product line is designed to promote a healthy coat and skin. If your veterinarian prescribed or suggested a different shampoo, we will gladly use it. Many prescription shampoos and conditioners need 5 to 10 minutes of contact time; if so, we stay with your pet and gently massage the product into their coat and skin, and an additional fee applies for that time.

My dog or cat is really, really matted. What can you do?

We offer a relaxing, pain-free grooming experience. If your pet is severely matted, we will shave the coat down using the longest blade that will get under the mats. If that isn’t acceptable, you can comb out the mats first, paying attention to the stomach, underarms and behind the ears. It is more humane to shave the coat and start over, giving your pet a chance to grow a healthier coat we can maintain — and a shorter time between appointments or a different coat style can help prevent it happening again.

What should I do if my pet is matted?

Please call us to schedule, and tell us about the matting in advance — it needs extra time and care. The longer it has been since your pet’s last groom, the more intensive the care may be. If we aren’t told ahead of time, the groom can run 3 to 4 hours or may need to be rescheduled. The price for matted pets varies with the level of care needed.

Appointments & policies

What should I do if I’m running late for my appointment?

Please call or text us before your appointment time. Appointments are automatically cancelled and subject to a no-show fee if you are more than 15 minutes late.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before your appointment. Otherwise a no-show fee applies.

Under what circumstances can service be refused?

To keep our clients and staff safe, we may refuse service if a pet shows aggression that could put staff or other animals at risk, after two missed appointments without notice, or if fleas or ticks are found at check-in. We are happy to help pets with behavioral issues when it is safe to do so; pets in behavior training with us need consistent grooming at least every 4 weeks so they become more comfortable and relaxed with the process.
